The vegetarian diet is generally an animal-meat free diet. It is associated with a higher consumption of fiber, folic acid, vitamins C and E, magnesium, unsaturated fat, and countless phytochemicals. This often results in vegetarians having lower cholesterol, weight-loss, having lower blood pressure, and reduced risk of heart disease. It is also been shown to improve mood (due to a lowered arachidonic acid intake, which is usually found in meat), may improve symptoms of psoriasis, reduce the incidence of diabetes and cataracts, less risk of stroke, obesity and developing of kidney stones.

Who should try it?
Anyone already following a vegetarian lifestyle would benefit greatly from this programme. Also, anyone who wants to take advantage of the benefits the diet provides. It is, however, not the best option if your main goals are related to muscle building, due to the lower intake of complete proteins (plant proteins are usually incomplete – lacking some essential amino acids, apart from: soy, quinoa, buckwheat, hempseed, and chia).
