In terms of Building large amounts of muscle mass the natural hormone Testosterone is KING. Having a healthy or even elevated level of testosterone in your body is going to accelerate the time it is going to take you to build some serious mass. Sounds simple enough, we just jump on our favourite (legal) Testosterone boosting product, eat well and train hard and off we head into beast territory.

This plan seems to work just fine for the first 4-6 weeks and then the gains seem to just dry up, WHY? Your body has checks and balances in place as well as having multiple hormones and growth factors in place to manage muscle mass. It is not as simple as just increasing one hormone and hoping that none of the others are thrown out of balance. If we look at the functioning of 3 of the main hormones and manipulate them in a cyclic manner, we can however create an environment where we are constantly moving forward with our muscle gaining goals without throwing our hormonal system into disarray.

The 3 Big Hormones that we are going to play with are Testosterone, Estrogen and Cortisol. The key component to understand that is driving this Mass gain cycle is Anabolism. No Shite Sherlock, I hear you say. However being Anabolic has 3 different aspects we need to take into consideration, then regulate. Stay with me, the solution is pretty simple once we map it out.

  • Anabolic Muscle Building: This is the part where we bump the testosterone up

  • Anabolic Fat Building: Anabolic can also mean putting fat on, this is the part we are trying to avoid and regulating Estrogen will play a role in this (as well as controlling our diet obviously).

  • Anti-Catabolic: Anabolism and Catabolism are happening every day to some degree and we don’t always have to push to be more anabolic to grow. If we can reduce the catabolic processes through cortisol modulation (not eradication) then we can shift the net result in favour of muscle growth.

Here is the simple part. If we cyclically rotate 3 different products to Increase Testosterone, Reduce Estrogen and normalise Cortisol production, then we will from a hormonal perspective create an environment conducive to muscle growth year-round. Here is how we actually rotate the supplements.

Weeks 9-12: Repeat process….

This looks really simple on paper and to an extent it is. Working with your hormones instead of just smashing them is unfortunately not that common in our sport. If you take some time to understand your body and start to work with it in a manner that supports health and growth, then you will be a long way ahead of most of the competition.

Reset Nutrition Adrenals uses a complex blend of adaptogens and herbs that help the body adapt to external stress.

In particular, Reset Nutrition Adrenal takes the workload off the adrenal gland and helps to restore healthy cortisol levels.

Excessive secretion of cortisol is fast becoming an epidemic due to the psychological perception of stress from work, finances, training and the less obvious physical stressors such as chronic pain, inflammation, allergies and the abuse of heavily caffeinated beverages.
